In these paintings I've used my method of many thin glazes and building fields of colour to transform Venice into representation of the very element that defines her. My science background gives me a curiousity about the properties of the water surface: light and shadow, reflection and refraction, pattern and water movement. These create a different memory of Venice. Tranquil spaces of line, colour and light rather than landscape.
